Modern Terminals is honoured to have its first female apprentice of the container terminal industry recognized as the first female outstanding apprentice in the industry. Ching Hui Man, who will graduate from the terminal operator’s apprenticeship scheme this year, has recently received the 2016 Outstanding Apprentices Award organized by the Vocational Training Council. There were 223 nominations and among them 10 received the accolades of Outstanding Apprentices and two won the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Outstanding Apprentice Awards.

In March, Hiu Man joined an exchange programme to Korea which is a valuable learning experience for the winners. She said, “This is a great honour to me and it is definitely a recognition of my achievement in the apprenticeship scheme. Now I am more confident going forward to pursue my goal of becoming an excellent female engineer.”

Modern Terminals’ Apprenticeship Scheme was launched in 2012, in collaboration with the Office of the Director of Apprenticeship, offering an attractive career development prospect to the young people.
