Modern Terminals has recently been awarded the Caring Company Logo for the second consecutive year by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, in recognition of our continuous effort on performing well in the award criteria, including caring for the environment, volunteering, employee friendliness, employing vulnerable and giving.

Modern Terminals’ efforts in these areas were manifested through various recognitions from the community at which we operate our business. For instance, Modern Terminals has sharpened its performance focus on the environmental protection in the past year. We feel especially encouraged by having been awarded several environmental awards and recognitions, namely the Wastewi$e Label 2008/09 and Energywi$e Label 2008/09 both with “Class of Good” from the Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence. In addition, with remarkable effort spent on advocating greener terminal area in 2008, Modern Terminals has also been awarded the Environmental Performance Certificate of Merit Winner of the 2008 Hong Kong Awards for Industries.

We care about the community where our operations are located. To help foster a more caring and harmonious community, we strongly support volunteer activities in which our people take part. The Modern Volunteer Force was formed by Modern Terminals employees in 2007. We paid visits to the elderly in the neigbouring districts, sponsored and manned a game stall at the Kwai Tsing Road Safety Carnival every year and participated in various volunteer services and charitable activities.

In 2008, all business units of Modern Terminals group in Hong Kong and Mainland China made corporate donations, together with staff contributions, to Hong Kong Red Cross China Relief Fund to support the victims of two disastrous catastrophes occurred in China, namely the snowstorm in January and Sichuan earthquake in May. Recently, Hong Kong Red Cross expressed their gratitude to the generous support of Modern Terminals and our staff members with a Certificate of Appreciation.

Modern Terminals will continue to drive sustainability of the industry and contribute to the well-being of the community where we live and work.
