To ensure optimum service, we have deployed advanced equipment throughout the new facility, including a fleet of 14 quay cranes and 48 rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs). Two of the quay cranes ¡V located at the southern end of CT9 ¡V are unique in that they are the only ones in Hong Kong capable of turning on the curved rail around the corner of the berths at the southern end.
Seven of the quay cranes are new, and they have a maximum loading capacity of up to 60LT with twin 20-footers under spreader. In addition, 10 new RTGs deployed there have a maximum handling capacity of up to 50LT under twin-lift operation.
Additional equipment will be ordered and systems will be implemented to enhance services even further in the future.

Throughput hits all-time record in July
Kwai Chung Port recorded its highest-ever monthly throughput in July. A total of 1,191,675 TEUs were handled during the month, 17 per cent more than the same month last year. The surge in business was driven mainly by transhipments, including barge volume.
