Kwai Chung container terminals operator Modern Terminals Limited made an announcement today (27 June 2005) that the contract with its stevedoring contractor, Chinagold Transportation Limited (Chinagold), has been due to expire in June 2005. Chinagold was not awarded a new contract in the tendering process, which started several months ago.   Arrangements have been made for terminal operations to continue smoothly, and for all services to Modern Terminals’ customers and other terminal users to be maintained during the transition period.

Modern Terminals has discussed with its new stevedoring contractor about offering employment to suitable candidates from among Chinagold’s employees.
