Shanghai

Shanghai is currently the busiest port for international cargo in the Yangtze River Delta. Modern Terminals opened a representative office in Shanghai in early 2002, and we have since developed a healthy and cooperative relationship with the Shanghai authorities. This reflects our commitment to participating in port development along the coastline of Eastern and Northern China, and bringing our international service standards to the industry in this region.

Taicang International Gateway

Modern Terminals has started established its presence at Taicang since 2004. We are a major shareholder in Taicang International Gateway, a state-of-the-art facility in Jiangsu Province. Taicang achieved very satisfactory business performance on both container and breakbulk handling. It renders sufficient handling capacity for the rapid growing Suzhou/Jiangsu market, with its first berth having come into operation in end 2006. In line with our strategy of moving upstream from Shanghai, we are also examining other investments in the region.

Bo Hai Sea Area

In line with our growth strategy on the Mainland, we intend to take advantage of suitable opportunities to develop facilities in Northern and Eastern China, especially at major ports in the Bo Hai Sea catchment area.

Dalian

Modern Terminals and Dalian Port Co., Ltd. have jointly entered into a Framework Agreement on Strategic Cooperation in developing deepwater container terminals in the middle section of Dayaowan North Harbour with Dalian Municipal Port Administration Bureau in March 2007.
